June Journeys: From Empowerment to Appointments

5 min readOct 27, 2023

The month of June commenced with a much-needed break for my body, following the immense efforts we put into Shape South Asia 2023. After a few days of rest, I had the privilege of attending a book launch event for ‘Sunya Bata Suru Bhayeko Byapar Apar’ by Shiva Ghimire, the father of my friend — Sugam Ghimire. This book launch was truly inspiring, focusing on the journeys of first-generation entrepreneurs who have achieved success in Nepal.

Two lines from the book’s introduction deeply resonated with my perspective. The first, “Jiban ma samasya aaye rahanchan tara rahirahadainan,” aligns with my belief in not stressing excessively over problems. I often consider how long a problem will be with me and find that most issues are temporary, which helps me stay calm.

The second line, “Baaj ko sangat gare aakash ma udna payencha ra haas ko sangat gare pokhari ma basnu pardachha,” mirrors my approach to choosing my circle of friends and associates consciously. Just as Jim Rohn once said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” I reflect on my social circle to ensure it nurtures my personal and professional growth.

Featured in Living Magazine

I had never experienced a professional photo shoot for a magazine until now. The process was both beautiful and challenging to fit into my busy schedule. During the shoot, I was fasting for over 16 hours, but I managed to smile through it all. The resulting photograph captures the moment.

In addition to the photo shoot, answering the interview questions prompted me to reflect on my journey, priorities, and future directions. I extend my gratitude to Living Magazine and Esparsh Sarawagi for the feature.

Session on Youth Empowerment in Bhaktapur

Growing up in a village in Bhaktapur, I imbibed the belief that our backgrounds should not limit our ambitions. Every step outside my comfort zone expanded my aspirations and opened doors of opportunity. I had the honor of sharing this message, along with valuable skills and experiences, with students who had just completed Grade 10 and 12 in Sipadol Village, Bhaktapur. I was invited as a guest speaker for the ‘Youth Empowerment and Character Building’ training by Suryavinayak Municipality Ward 8. Congratulations to the local government for the success of this empowering event. Together, let’s inspire young minds to break free from limitations and reach their fullest potential. Giving back to my hometown, Bhaktapur, always feels rewarding.

Last Monthly Meeting of Saurabh Shah as a Curator

The final monthly meeting of the Global Shapers Kathmandu Hub under the curatorship of Saurabh Shah was an emotional one for me. I joined the Shapers community when Saurabh Dai was the Vice Curator of the hub, and he was instrumental in helping me become part of this remarkable community. Saurabh Dai has been a close friend, mentor, and guide, always there for personal problems, career dilemmas, and casual coffee conversations. His leadership elevated our hub to new heights, making it one of the most vibrant communities of brilliant minds and individuals. I express my deep gratitude to Saurabh Dai for his unwavering support and guidance.

NYEF Kathmandu AGM — Appointed as Executive Member

In May 2021, during the lockdown, I joined the Nepalese Young Entrepreneurs Forum (NYEF) Kathmandu Chapter. As the lockdown eased, I actively participated in various events. I had the opportunity to contribute my experience in pitching competitions and expertise in startup building to the core organizing committee of the NYEF Startup Awards, a successful event. Collaborating with other entrepreneurs, each bringing unique expertise, networks, and experiences to the table, sparked my interest in fostering a positive business environment in Nepal and nurturing an entrepreneurial ecosystem. After more than two years, I was appointed as an executive member of the NYEF Kathmandu Chapter. I look forward to the upcoming years working under the leadership of Prarthana Saakha, our chapter president.

Stay tuned for a separate blog post where I’ll delve into my experience at Summer Davos.
